Okaloosa Island Pier Fishing TournamentPosted on 03/25/14
Spring along the Emerald Coast is packed with fun fishing events. These tournaments are wonderful ways to get out of your Gulf Coast home and enjoy the beautiful beach weather before the shores become packed with visitors. One such tournament is the Okaloosa Island Pier Spring Fishing Tournament.
This tournament takes place beginning March 1, 2014 and runs through May 18, 2014 from 6AM to 7PM. The Cobia run is taking place making it easy to reel in a contender for the tournament. Other species available to fish during this tournament include King Mackerel and Pompano.
Not only is this tournament fun and a great way to enjoy life as a Fort Walton Beach or Destin local, but it also benefits a great cause. Entrance fees to the tournament vary, Cobia cost $25 while King Mackerel and Pompano are $20 each to enter, but all benefit a great cause. All of the proceeds help support local veteran’s, as well as groups that work with veteran’s and their families.
If pier fishing isn’t for you, don’t worry. The Destin Cobia tournament, which can be fished from the decks of local Destin charter boats, is still in full swing throughout the month of April. Grab your rod and reel and don’t miss these fun, local fishing tournaments this spring!
