Decorating Your Home for the HolidaysPosted on 12/05/14
What better way to make your new home feel like home than with a few holiday decorations? After all, `tis the season where homeowners are busy hanging lights and putting up Christmas trees.
With that in mind, before you break out the ladder, keep in mind a few things to help keep your new Niceville real estate in tip top condition and your family safe.
First, inspect the lights and wires. Over time, wires can become brittle and expose copper which could be disastrous for your home. Additionally, it is important not to overload circuits. Usually connecting five or more strands of lights end-to-end can cause a circuit to overload. LED lights can sometimes handle more, but you ought to read the label carefully before stringing them up on the roof.
Lastly, remember to remove the lights at the end of the holiday season. Not only is this a courtesy to your neighbors, but it also prevents lights from weather damage so that they can be used next year.
